The ending was beautiful. I believe count also wanted to die. You can tell by him willing letting the sun consume him., no fighting. The book carried by his slave, Knock, also implied or foreshadowed their pre-destined ending, and he believed that it would be Ellen. I don’t see how he could not have known. She purified her soul, he died in the arms of the one he “loved” or desired and saw the sun rise for the last time. Thomas, Ellen, and Orlok were freed of the curse once and for all, tragic but necessary. Ellen loved Thomas and that was her ultimate sacrifice for him, though the bond with count was strong. The team killed the set, costumes, music, everything. One of my favorite films of the year. I hope they get the recognition they all deserve.

3:58, chills heavily intensifies...Man, I didn't feel this with a soundtrack in a theater since, maybe, the Lord of the Rings soundtrack by Howard Shore. Very well played, Mr Carolan, the train of emotions awaken only in a bunch of seconds was huge. The overall scene, and all the movie, was the perfect match for this astonishing score.

I worked security in a newly constructed (empty) building when this version came out. Needless to say, I was terrified every night I got off because of this song. I would listen to it and then go and do my patrols of an eerily quiet building where water dripped slowly and the breeze blew the plastic drapes every now and then.

If this soundtrack don't have an Oscar award, it's robbery.

This music brings to mind the feeling of being both the predator and the prey. It captures the essence of being hunted and the thrill of hunting. The satisfaction of satiating one's hunger and the fear of becoming a meal. The deliberate movements of the predator as it stalks its prey and the helpless prey unable to escape. A battle of life and death. Such a captivating contrast in rhythm to life.
